My maternal grandfather was Ernest Willard Taylor (1866-1963). He was a life-long watch and clock maker and the one from whom I acquired my interest and basic understanding of mechanical clocks and from whom I acquired my first name. His hand-built regulator (built around 1900) has been entrusted to me; it is described in more detail elsewhere on this site.
My Aunt Mimi (Mary A. Taylor) has provided a summary of the Taylor line beginning with Richard Taylor who arrived at Plymouth Colony in 1630. Her report on the Taylor familiy was written as a personal note to her many nephews and nieces. That intimate flavor has been retained in the version presented here.
